Leicestershire A 30-14 Shropshire A
Yet again we were end of a team bang in form and the scoreline in no way flattered Leicestershire who were every bit as good as a two-time national champion team should be. England International Vinny Allen was stupidly good in his four frames to go with the likes of Gavin Lomax, Steve Robertshaw, Tom Ford to name a few.
Steve Camp earned his third MotM in six matches with his 3/4 to help out Ian Duffy's efforts who also weighed in with just loss for the day.
Alan Childs secured his second 2/4 since his promotion to the A's and is looking ever the steady player the A's need and again was a couple of shots away from the 3/4 he deserved.
The A's are slowly improving and whilst we've been on the end of some heavy scorelines, we're becoming more of a team and aren't rolling over as used to happen in days gone by. One thing to think about is that even if all of Shropshire's 'superstars' did play, they still wouldn't be as good as Staffordshire or Leicestershire so I'd much rather have the players we have today who are more than capable of beating these sides, which I am positive will come in time.
Shropshire B were the surprise package of the day, taking 17 off of a very good Leicestershire B. Two of Shropshire's very few Shrewsbury based players, Adam Sykes and Danny Sumner, weighed in with 3/4's to contribute to a good team performance.
The Ladies finished about an hour after everyone else. |

The Ladies team is a horrible place to be. Out of a squad of about 18, we managed to scrape 9 and enrol the assistance of Georgie Williams for the afternoon (Thanks George).
As I played my second game against a random no-body, I suddenly realised that my so-called 'team' had all fcuked off to get their dinner, leaving just myself and Tracy Williams, who i'm sure would have also left if she weren't time-keeping. The Leicester girls couldn't believe it, as they'd all stayed to support their player, who I then lost to. (Not because of lack of support, but because I really didn't give a toss by this point.)
I get on with all the girls in one way or another, but the whole lack of team spirit and support is phenomenal. When we have a full team with reserves, you can feel their eyes burning into the back of your head as you play, with them willing you to lose so they get to play. I've never played for a team like it.
Shame really, as there are a few decent players amongst them and a lot of the girls are up for a laugh, but I can't do this for another season. |

I'm surprised you're still using THAT line, Danny.
I guess paranoia made me not see my entire team when playing my 2nd frame, did it?!! |
